Electrolytic Coloring takes a second step to Anodize. Products are immersed in a bath containing electrical current with metal ions. Metallic particles are impregnated into the base of the pores on the aluminum surface. The depth of the color is dependant on the length of time the electrical current is applied.

Also known as “Optical Black” this process is an especially good finish for sporting-goods equipment.

It creates a surface that is non-reflective (it actually absorbs light), weather and chemical-resistant as well as heat-fast. Products are also stable from exposure to laser and UV light sources.
