Chromate Conversion coatings are non-decorative coatings intended to provide corrosion prevention when left unpainted as well to improve adhesion of paint and finish systems on aluminum and aluminum alloys. Chromate solution is applied to clean aluminum and produces a thin gel-like film which is integrated into the metal. This film provides a superior base for bonding of paints and adhesives. The film lengthens the life of the paint forming an effective barrier against corrosive pores or scratches in the paint. |
